  1. Was this year’s session successful? Answer: “Yes, session was a success overall this year. I worked tirelessly throughout to help make New York state safer, smarter and cleaner for all Long Islanders and New Yorkers.”

“I supported many proposals this session. I fought to improve public safety and tackle the opioid/fentanyl crisis head-on by introducing legislation to make all forms and doses of Naloxone approved by the Food and Drug Administration available (A.10193, K. Brown). I prioritized building an emotionally supportive educational environment in our schools by introducing proposals to dial back on cellphone usage during classroom instruction (A.9687, K. Brown) and protect children from exploitative features in online products (A.8314, K. Brown). Finally, I helped to improve water quality around the Island by co-sponsoring the Suffolk County Sewer Commission (A.8993) and protect the environment by co-sponsoring the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (A.5322). I hope to continue these efforts to help make our state safer, smarter and cleaner!

“Foundation Aid cuts were restored in the State Budget, which was a great victory for our school districts!”

  • What do you wish had been accomplished? Answer: “We must do more to help keep parents informed and our children safe when it comes to exploitative social media and harmful substances like fentanyl and cannabis products. I will continue to monitor the fentanyl/opioid epidemic and also shed light on the risks consistent exposure to the internet and online social media platforms can pose to our teens and children. The fight is not over!”
